31 Days Challenge, Day 10 – Coincidence or Fate?

One day, me and a friend decided to go to the movies, and the cinema was located in a shopping mall. It was a Wednesday evening and the shopping mall was full and so was the underground parking. We were both by car so we searched for two parking spots that were kind of close to eachother.

At some point, I saw half a parking place near an empty one. The problem with the half parking spot was this: there was a car, a golden Mercedes occupying 2 parking spots and leaving half free on each side. Now I thought – ‘What an a-hole. I’ll show it to him’. So I squeezed my car into one half and left a note that said – ‘If you would please so kind and use the free space on the left to enter your car. Thank you in advance. Also, please don’t hurt my car, it’s my mothers’ and she’ll beat me if anything happens to it 🙂 Thank you again.’. My note was returned with the following answer – ‘If there’s any scratch, it’s not from me.’ And then a phone number written on the paper.

My car was intact, so I felt the need to thank the human that had that Mercedes. On that note, I messaged him to let him know that everything was ok – I thought the man was worried, when he parked the way he did. I did that, and afterwards we started talking.

Funny thing is that we discovered that we are born on the same day – the 16th of December, we both studied Psychology and we were both an only child. Yes, we got deep with the talking.

Do you believe in coincidences?

31 Days Challenge, Day 5 – First Friend

She was beside me when I was little. I met her at the age of 1 and she kept me company everywhere I went. She was my first friend and I’m happy to find her again and again in my childhood pictures. Here we are at the seaside.

She was real, just not human. I received her as a gift from the aunt that raised me and taught me how to draw tables for math.

Her name was ‘Cutie’ – translated from the Romanian ‘Drăgălașă’.

We even had a big fight and I threw her on the ground. That was the moment she got her name. My grandmother told me I hurt her and that she didn’t deserve that, because she was a cutie. So after that episode, we would be best friends. And she stayed with me until kindergarten, when I established other friendships, with people.

Still, she has a special place in my heart and my memories box.

31 Days, Day 4 – Beyond Comprehension

Now, this is creepy. Lovely and funny, but creepy.

It was my 18th bday, the moment when I came of age. So I was having a small party at a club. A gays club but hey, that was the only one that I liked. Don’t worry, I had the entire location booked, so none of  my male friends were ‘harmed’ during this.

Okay, so we were supposed to leave the coats at the wardrobe, so we did, regardless the fact we were the ones throwing the party. So the guy there gave every one us a number so he would know which coat belongs to whom. But at the end of the party, in all the hurry and tiredness we forgot to give the numbers back.

My mum had received the number 7 and I the number 16. The funny thing is that my mum is born on 7th of December and I am on the 16th of December. So, I was telling to a friend of mine what happened and that is seemed very freaky, and she told me she had also forgot to give back the number from the wardrobe and when she found it, it said 23. She was born on the 23rd of December… Okay, that is just plain spooky.

We haven’t figured it out, I guess it’s one of those things you just take as they come. Still, one of my fav memories!

31 Days, Day 3 – First Speed (Business) Meeting

I remember my first business meeting.

I was scared, terrified even. About two years ago, I got my first job at Swiss Ecodent Clinic thanks to my addiction to Facebook. I was already known for that and they needed someone to take care of their Facebook page. Later on, I was in charge with their other social media accounts. Since I represented them online, the natural thing was to take over the offline part too. So I started going to networking events.

The first event I took part in was a Speed Business Meeting. That was extremely new to me, but it sounded a bit like the Speed Dating Meeting I’ve seen in the movies. Well, the concept was basically the same: you would pick a card from a box and look at the number and the type of activity. The number indicated at which table you will start. Regarding the activity, you could stay at one table the whole time, while others move around you (‘fixe’ in Romanian) or you’d be the one to move around (‘mobil’ in Romanian).

My card said ‘3 – fixe’, so that meant that I would be sitting at one table and the others move around me, yey – that was what I was hoping for. And the number three is my favourite and the one that’s lucky to me. Even more, red is the colour that suits me best!

It has every right to be in my memories box! 🙂

31 Days, Day 1 – I’m (Still) a Barbie Girl

Barbie dolls. Ever had one? It was crazy back in my time.

I remember how obsessed I was with them, and not only the dolls but with the accessories too… I was never the fancy one with the posh toys and I wished sooo much for whatever Barbie had, all of it! So when I got this Barbie car, the VW Beetle I wasn’t going to let it get away. Even if that meant making my little cousin cry… 🙁

But really now, he had his own car. Of course, it wasn’t pink and it didn’t write Barbie on it and it didn’t came with pink luggage and Coca-Cola cans or pink flowers… Because it was made for a girl, duh!

I got the car as present from my mothers’ cousin, at Christmas when I was in Paris many many years ago. I usually knew what I was gonna get for present, but this time I was completely blown away. Not only I had no idea about my present, but it was also what I had wished for for years and I just loved it! Words can’t express my surprise. So I wasn’t going to let anyone make me enjoy this less.

Still, he had his car received as a present, so that was and remained mine. As a proof, it’s still mine and I still play with it.

And the key ring, the little pink miniature VW beetle, is now holding my real car keys.

I’m never gonna give it away, it’s my perfect childhood memory and that’s why it’s part of my memories box!

31 Days Challenge – Intro

Who doesn’t love a nice little challenge?

Well, in my many many wanderings through Social Media I found this blog and kind of a dare. As a person who loves those, I started reading. So, you have to write on your blog for 31 days, on any subject you like.

‘Oh boy, oh boy, that sounds lovely… And there were so many topics going through my mind… But…wait. I don’t have a blog… Yet.’

So that’s how it all started 🙂 I wanted a blog for so long but I was always unsure of what I would write on it. Even though I do have lots of stories to tell, at least my friends always tell me how interesting my life is and how I live every moment, something just wasn’t right. But when THIS came along, it felt just perfect. Maybe because just a few days before that, a friend of mine was annoyed with the fact that I was narrating a story and I only share it with a few people.

So, this is it. You’re on my blog now, so it exists, yey! I joined the ‘Write 31 Days’ Challenge, that starts on the 1st of October and I plan to write the whole month, one post a day. At least one that’s related to the topic I chose especially for this and then others of my day-to-day life.

You might be curious about my topic… But that’s going to come out when the time is right. Let me tell you a bit about ’31 Days’. So it’s an online writing challenge started by blogger Myquillyn Smith. And it’s where bloggers pick one topic and they write a post a day on it. There’s also a community where we post those articles, and also a Facebook group, so that everyone can read the ones they’re interested in the most.

I thought this was the perfect place for me to be in my blogging beginnings. It was all the motivation I needed, plus the social interaction with people that have the same determination and enthusiasm as me, but most of all, the same purpose.

I was looking at all those categories and I knew that I would never write on ‘House & Home’ or ‘Family Life’. In the end, I just knew that I belonged in the ‘Too Awesome to Categorize’ group. Ok, now may be the right time to tell you about my topic.

Initially, I was thinking about listing lovely words like ‘Sausade’ or ‘Wanderlust’, words that have a certain meaning that makes them interesting. But then, there would be no ‘ME’ in there… And since my friends tell me I have some interesting stories to tell, and they even got angry with the fact that I keep them to myself – there you have it, okay? I’m going to take out my memories box out of the closet and for the 31 days of October I will tell you 31 lovely, funny, stories that made my life until now.

After deciding on my topic, I needed just one other thing – a title. How was I supposed to call it? 31 Days of what? Memories, stories, happenings, they were all too specific. One dear friend even suggested ’31 Days of Sunshine’. I did like it, it just wasn’t right enough. And I got to thinking that all those memories were made at the right time with the right people for me to be a part of them. Most of them were unexpected, the people and/or the happenings, I wasn’t looking for either of them… And that made me remember my fav word in the whole world 🙂 I just felt it, it was right, it was ME. And that one word is ‘Serendipity’.
