Happy bday, Mickey!

I hope that everyone here knows who Mickey Mouse is! If so, your childhood was awesome! 😀

So, Mickey is the official mascot of Disney. He is a an animal cartoon and was created in 1928 by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. He is part of a gang, along with his girlfriend – Minnie Mouse, his dog – Pluto and his friends – Goofy and Donald Duck with girlfriend, Daisy.

Mickey’s body is made out of circles, to make the character easy to animate. And that is a reason why Mickey is easy for the audience to recognize, his ears being an unofficial trademark. There is even a symbol used to represent Mickey – Mickey Mouse

The original voice of Mickey is Walt Disney himself, the co-creator of Mickey and founder of the Walt Disney Company! It turns out even more cute – starting from 1977, the voice of Mickey Mouse was Wayne Allwine, who was married in real life to Russi Taylor, the voice of Mickey girlfriend, Minnie Mouse!

Mickey Mouse is so famous that he’s received ten nominations for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film and in November 1978, in honor of his 50th anniversary, Mickey became the first cartoon character to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

31 Days Challenge, Day 6 – Red and Blue Love

Red and Blue.

I cannot think of other colours when talking about football/soccer. FC Steaua Bucharest is what I knew from childhood, what my family has taught me. We used to get together to watch the matches and celebrate. I even used to paint my nails in red and blue for this!

I went on the stadium several times in order to support my fav team, I knew all their songs by heart and I loved their team. Even had a notebook made just for this.

I remember the time when I first saw a match, my first time on a stadium. I was in highschool and went with my and her friends. Steaua won and then we went celebrating, I was flying the flag outside the window car and felt so happy!

I even kept the tickets as memory, from that match and the others that followed.

I still am a fan of theirs, but as I grew up I understood how the footbal/soccer system works in Romania, and when I did, I was a little bit disappointed.

Despite all, I love my Steaua notebook and all the accessories I own – scarfs, bracelets, dogtags, slippers, etc.

31 Days Challenge, Day 5 – First Friend

She was beside me when I was little. I met her at the age of 1 and she kept me company everywhere I went. She was my first friend and I’m happy to find her again and again in my childhood pictures. Here we are at the seaside.

She was real, just not human. I received her as a gift from the aunt that raised me and taught me how to draw tables for math.

Her name was ‘Cutie’ – translated from the Romanian ‘Drăgălașă’.

We even had a big fight and I threw her on the ground. That was the moment she got her name. My grandmother told me I hurt her and that she didn’t deserve that, because she was a cutie. So after that episode, we would be best friends. And she stayed with me until kindergarten, when I established other friendships, with people.

Still, she has a special place in my heart and my memories box.

31 Days, Day 1 – I’m (Still) a Barbie Girl

Barbie dolls. Ever had one? It was crazy back in my time.

I remember how obsessed I was with them, and not only the dolls but with the accessories too… I was never the fancy one with the posh toys and I wished sooo much for whatever Barbie had, all of it! So when I got this Barbie car, the VW Beetle I wasn’t going to let it get away. Even if that meant making my little cousin cry… 🙁

But really now, he had his own car. Of course, it wasn’t pink and it didn’t write Barbie on it and it didn’t came with pink luggage and Coca-Cola cans or pink flowers… Because it was made for a girl, duh!

I got the car as present from my mothers’ cousin, at Christmas when I was in Paris many many years ago. I usually knew what I was gonna get for present, but this time I was completely blown away. Not only I had no idea about my present, but it was also what I had wished for for years and I just loved it! Words can’t express my surprise. So I wasn’t going to let anyone make me enjoy this less.

Still, he had his car received as a present, so that was and remained mine. As a proof, it’s still mine and I still play with it.

And the key ring, the little pink miniature VW beetle, is now holding my real car keys.

I’m never gonna give it away, it’s my perfect childhood memory and that’s why it’s part of my memories box!
